My First Attempt

Here is the result of my first dabblings in reel making. This has been a great experience and number two will be better for sure. This one is smooth but on the crude side. It will get polished but I wanted to make the deadline. Next stop is a trout stream with my new reel and one of my cane rods. Thanks Michael, you have opened my eyes to another dimension in our sport.

It looks wonderful to me. I know how you feel ....as I did on the completion of my very first reel. I also like your style with the handle.

Did you make the reel case?

Thanks. Now for that first fish on a rod, reel and fly that I have made. I did make the case a few years ago at the Catskill Bamboo Rodmakers Gathering. The handle is saw-off of one of my rods and I flamed the ends a bit.
